Master’s Martial Arts is a Christian-based martial arts organization.  The name of the martial art style “KAMIDO AIKIDO” says it all.  The word AIKIDO is comprised of three Japanese words.  AI meaning “harmony”, KI meaning “spirit” and DO meaning “the way”.  AIKIDO therefore means “the way to harmony with the spirit”.  It is well known that harmony with the spirit, in Far Eastern religious philosophy, implies oneness with nature (plants, animals, etc.).  This philosophy would be in direct conflict with Christian teaching and therefore is not part of our teaching.

    

The word KAMIDO is comprised of two Japanese words.  KAMI meaning “God” and DO meaning “the way”.  By combining the word KAMIDO with AIKIDO, we then have “God’s way - to harmony with the (Holy) Spirit”.  God’s way to harmony with the Spirit is to do all things in accord with God’s precepts and thereby glorify God.

Kamido Aikido self-defense routines are based upon the God’s laws of physics and utilize the principles of body mechanics to make the techniques effective.

Kamido Aikido focuses on the development of character qualities based upon Biblical principles including: discipline – respect – humility – perseverance – flexibility – decisiveness – patience – confidence – responsibility – gentleness – leadership.

     In Matthew 5:14-16, God’s word tells us that we “are the light of the world” and that a lamp is not lit to be put “under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.”  We are to let our light so shine before men, that they may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven.  It is the goal of Kamido Aikido to be a light in the world of martial arts, to shine in the darkness of Far Eastern religious philosophy and to glorify our Father in heaven.
